Charter renewal—

The board went through the 271-page draft and gave input, changes, edits, and suggested revisions.

Tour of Homes –Heather Harvey

Carolyn Jurick noted what an awesome job everyone involved with the home tour did; Kay provided financial overview. Brenda Marion will create and share a google doc for everyone to share their thoughts rather than scheduling a wrap-up meeting since everyone is busy with end-of-school-year activities.

Public Comment –Please limit to 3 minutes

Julia Pearce questioned why diversity initiatives are included in our charter renewal objectives. The board noted that diversity is covered with our addition of a weighted lottery, the PSAs we’ve run with Savannah Herald, etc. One possible next step could be for Pat Rossiter to reach out to ministers at African-American churches.

Christy Edwards moved that we go into executive session; Kay Fortner seconded; all were in favor.

Carolyn Jurick recommended that we put together a basket of Tybee/TIMA-themed items as a gift for SCCPSS superintendent Thomas Lockamy’s retirement. Duff Smith made a motion to approve said idea with an expenditure of no more than $200. Brenda Marion seconded; all were in favor.

Brenda Marion moved to adjourn governing board meeting; Heather Harvey seconded; all were in favor.
